Influenza can be very serious and even fatal; everyone is at risk regardless of age and fitness. In 2017 1 in 4 New Zealanders caught the flu. Catching the flu can affect work and school schedules, holidays and social activities, and even financial and mental health. The immunisation prepares your body to fight off infection and lessens your risk of becoming sick or passing on sickness.

If you believe you should be eligible for a funded immunisation talk to reception when booking.

Unfunded Flu Vaccines are  available for $38 per person 18-years or older or $25 for ages 6-months to 17 years. Anyone over 6 months of age can get the Flu Vaccination.

Influvac Tetra is the funded influenza vaccine for 2024, for six months of age and over. The available 2024 influenza vaccines are quadrivalent vaccines, which includes two influenza A strains and two influenza B strains.

  • an A/Victoria/4897/2022 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
  • an A/Thailand/8/2022 (H3N2)-like virus;
  • a B/Austria/1359417/2021 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus; and

A few things to remember after your FLU immunisation

  1. You will need to wait at the clinic for 20 minutes after your vaccination.  This is to ensure that you can get all the help you need if you develop any severe or rare allergic reaction to the vaccine.
  2. You may feel lethargic, tired or develop a fever after your immunisation.  This is a very common reaction.  Please check with your doctor/pharmacist to see if paracetamol can help to alleviate the symptoms.
  3. It can take up to 2 weeks to develop immunity against influenza. You may still catch influenza before or after your immunisaiton.
  4. The Flu vaccine only helps to protect against the FLU virus,  and does not confer any protection against other common cold illnesses.

WORKPLACE VACCINATION

We also provide workplace vaccination to our local schools and communities.  Please give us a call to enquire about pricing.
